During the 20th edition of the Amsterdam Gay Pride and Boat Parade this year on 1 August 2015, an empty boat joined the parade for the first time in history. This doesn’t mean that no one was on board; nothing could be farther from the truth. 67,984 people from 128 countries worldwide, people who cannot openly show their pride, were virtual passengers on this boat as it sailed down the canals.
The Pridestream boat is a special boat equipped with a camera that streams a 360° view of the Boat Parade, allowing people from all over the world to be there ‘live’. KPN truly believes that technology can give people more freedom, and this is why it developed Pridestream, together with several creative agencies and Amsterdam Gay Pride.
